giclée (gee-clay) n. 1. a type of digital fine-art print. 2. Most often associated with reproductions; a giclée is a multiple print or exact copy of an original work of art that was created by conventional means (painting, drawing, etc.) and then reproduced digitally, typically via ink jet printing.
Since the above definition was first coined by early digital print maker, Jack Duganne in 1991, the technology has gone through significant advancements allowing today’s giclée printers to create more color accurate and truly archival prints that will not shift color or fade.
Our printer produces Fine Art Giclée Reproductions utilizing the latest technology combined with meticulous archival printmaking standards. The state-of-the-art process used by our printer allows artists to accurately create, museum quality, limited edition prints of their work.
Digital printmaking is much more then scanning an image, color correcting it and printing it out on a digital printer. Fine art printmaking is a learned and mastered art requiring years of experience in painting, color theory, and printing.
